Hey, Girlfriend!

 

If you refer to me as a florist, I may look around to see whom you are talking to.  I see myself as a successful Southern California decorator who, in addition, happens to run a thriving floral design business.

 

I am showing you photos from one of my recent projects to help spark your creativity.   Between flowers and friends, we can make this world a brighter place!  Are you ready?

Secret #1

Slip a clear cylinder shaped vase inside a jar to create a double arrangement.  Thinly slice citrus fruit and wedge it between the vase and jar.  Fill inner vase with water and flowers.  Hang from tree.

Secret #2

Accessorize with Produce.  Wrap wire around the stems of radishes and carrots and attach the wire to a hyacinth stick or skewer, anchor the stick into an Oasis Foam base.

Secret #3

Use Heavy Duty Mounting Tape to attach asparagus to the outside of a container.  First, attach a row or two of sticky double sided mounting tape around the exterior side of a container; then cut asparagus to even lengths; now neatly stick the asparagus vertically, side by side, to the outside of the container; and finish with a band or two of ribbon, securing the cut ends with a glue gun.

Secret #4

To hold produce such as apples, oranges brussels sprouts and artichokes in an arrangement, create long stems with hyacinth sticks by sticking them part way into the produce.

Secret #5

Fill vessels with a fitted chunk of Oasis Foam (after properly soaking the foam in water and flower food) to create dramatic and perfectly shaped arrangements.  Oasis Foam serves as an anchor for flowers and greenery.  This is a video link to show you how to soak Oasis Foam.

Secret #6

Just know that tulips are like naughty children, they have a mind of their own, they don’t behave.  They’ll grow several inches once they are cut and perfectly placed into an arrangement, that’s why tulip arrangements don’t stay uniform days, or even several hours, later.

Secret #7

Less is NOT more when it comes to flowers!  Much like diamonds, a girl can never have too many flowers!
