I finally got around to having new photos taken for my profile picture last month. The photo I am currently using for this blog, facebook and my business website (theRoomStylist.com) is at least 4 years old.
I’ve never been one to stay stuck in the past or want to hang on to my youth. I always like whatever age I am.
Now though, my neck has wrinkles when I turn my head, the lines and spots on my face are more pronounced, the veins on my hands are bluer than ever and my arms and legs show proof of my 25 years of beachside living in SoCal. I don’t like that so much.
But what’s a girl gonna do? For now, I am trying to resist photo editing as much as possible. That’s why overexposure and/or great lighting is my friend!! Actually, great lighting is EVERYONE’S friend.
I am fortunate that my girlfriend Dana Leigh Snidecor is a professional photographer. Dana is so down to earth and engaging that it’s easy to forget she has a camera just a few feet away from my face.
I met Dana 25 years ago when we both lived in Santa Barbara. When Jon and I left Santa Barbara for Newport Beach, Dana and I crossed paths again. Then we moved to La Jolla, San Diego, San Francisco and finally to Long Beach, next to beautiful Naples, California where Dana was raised. Guess what? We connected again! That was 22 years ago.
In addition to her being a professional photographer, Dana is a gifted jewelry designer and an artist, in general. She is also charming, smart, creative, hip, adorable, kind, generous, low maintenance, easy going, loving, FUN, humorous, authentic, intuitive and refreshing.
Here are some of the pics she has taken of and / or for me over the past 15(ish) years:

Jon and me

Jon and me… not sure when… 13 years ago?

Me now, in flattering black and white!

Me now, in good light! It appears that Dana, being a great friend, softened my furrow lines and possibly the lines on my chin caused from sleeping on my face!…xoxo

Just hanging with a stack of cookbooks and my friend Hazel Nut (Dana’s adorable dog)
I love these! Did she give you any tips on aging? Haha, inquiring minds want to know.
P.S. Hazel Nut is the cutest dog name EVER!

Dana didn’t give me any anti-aging tips. She is blonde and green eyed and has been a sun and fun beach girl her entire life. What keeps here young is her awesome energetic, creative, happy spirit!

and ‘speaking of age’…..we saw you in your swim suit(s) on your Vieques trek.
I think your age and body are both just GREAT. Good for you! I hope you haven’t shown Mamba your great photo
BUT with another dog. She would be hyper envious!
